• Water check when it lands—our arrangements come hydrated with flower food, but give it a once-over. Top off with cool water if needed.

• Change the water every couple of days and use that flower food packet. It's basically a vitamin boost for your blooms. Remove any leaves sitting below the waterline, and remove anything wilted.

• Fresh cuts matter—snip about half an inch off the stems at a 45-degree angle every few days. It helps them drink up better and stay perky longer.

• Location is everything—keep them away from direct sun, ripening fruit, heating vents, and cold drafts. A cool spot indoors is your sweet spot.

• Tell them they're gorgeous. They genuinely appreciate the hype.
